Rockstar nails

It's been almost nine months since my last mani/pedi! I can't justify a $65 nail indulgence in New Zealand, especially when I know back home they are much cheaper. So I turned to the internets for a DIY do. I don't fuss much with touch ups, so I was looking for a low maintenance nail look - that sounded like an oxymoron - but don't discount the power of the internets. The internets delivered:

One of my favourite online shops in New Zealand offers tons of discounted nail polishes, so for $6.50 I picked up my orly mini nail lacquer in tiara. Princess rockstar glam, love it!

I'm a fan of french manicures, but can't be bothered to try it on myself, but sparkles? Sparkles are easy. And if you mess up the "line", you can just push the sparkle up with your other hand. So easy, you can either swipe right across the top of your nail, or hold the brush straight up (so the polish can fall down) and place your nail right up against the bristles, and then swoop the bristles down so the polish falls onto your nail, easily in place!

Then apply a clear top coat.

Low. maintenance. Kinda the opposite of a rockstar I guess, but this low maintenance look makes me feel like one.

So pretty! Do you have a favourite go-to polish look? What other colour do you think will work for this one?

  2. Oh my gosh these are AWESOME! I love the effect, might have to give that a go myself. And you are SO RIGHT - mani/pedi's are WAY too expensive in NZ. Hence why I have probably only ever had less than 10 in my whole life.

What website do you buy your nail polish off? (don't you find that it is ridiculously expensive in NZ as well?! OPI for $30! OUCH!).
